We are excited to announce that Sand Dams Worldwide has been awarded 5,000 euros as part of an International Forum Design GmbH (iF) Social Impact Prize for our sand dam project work in southeast Kenya.International Forum Design GmbH social impact prize

On behalf of the dryland communities that we support, we would like to thank the iF team for awarding us the prize.

For nearly 20 years, Sand Dams Worldwide has been supporting poor communities in drylands to transform their own lives and land with sand dams. Sand dams are a little-known rainwater harvesting technology that can capture and store up to 40 million litres of clean water, every rainfall, enough year-round water for over 1,000 people.

How sand dams work:

Since 2002, we have enabled the construction of over 1,000 sand dams in 10 countries, providing over 1 million people with lifelong access to clean water and food security.

We are thrilled to be recognised by iF’s global panel and look forward to putting the prize money towards another sand dam in southeast Kenya that will benefit families with clean water for generations to come.
