Sand Dams Worldwide was proud to be part of the innovative product line-up from Advent of Change over Christmas 2020 - which raised over £235,000 for their network of 48 charities. Of this, £6,044.90 was raised for Sand Dams Worldwide!

The feel-good festive range was revealed in partnership with John Lewis by the non-profit social enterprise, Advent of Change, which pioneered the UK’s first advent calendar with a charity behind each door. 

Last year, Sand Dams Worldwide joined the campaign as part of their Charity Advent Calendar, Children’s Charity Advent Calendar and Charity Advent Candle. We would like to thank all those who purchased the items and helped to raise funds that will go towards supporting dryland communities to access clean water with sand dams.

Sand Dams Worldwide would also like to express our gratitude to Advent of Change and John Lewis for selecting us to be part of their charity network and giving revolution!

About Advent of Change

Advent of Change began with founder Kristina Salceanu’s idea to reverse the consumerist nature of Christmas and bring back the giving spirit, but it quickly captured the imagination of many others.

The innovative social enterprise caught the attention of John Lewis and Partners, who stocked the calendars in stores and online last year. Dan Cooper, Partner and Christmas, Gift Food & Experiences Buyer, said:

“It’s been a challenging year for the charity sector which is facing losses of £10bn due to increased demand for services and lost fundraising income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the main reasons I launched Advent of Change back in 2018 was to enable people to donate to multiple charities with one purchase, helping a number of different causes, and this is needed now more than ever.
We aim to create the world’s kindest products and are delighted to announce more products that will support more charities. We are extremely proud to be representing Sand Dams Worldwide [formerly Excellent Development] with our products.”
