In July 2013, Sand Dams Worldwide (formerly Excellent Development) and Africa Sand Dam Foundation championed sand dams at the very first Caux Dialogue on Land and Security.

"I like very much, not only the approach of sand dams, I like the passion behind them. I wish we could do more to take that technology, that approach, that understanding, among others."

Luc Gnacadja, Executive Secretary, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification

This was a unique event, convened by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the Initiatives of Change, to address the human connections between land degradation, poverty and conflict.

Sand dams are a key tool that contributes to preventing desertification, enabling hunger and poverty alleviation, and reducing conflict.

We believe that millions of the world's poorest people's lives will be transformed through sand dams. In this film, hear what some of the other event participants thought about them.
